Growing up in the village of Erostey with his mother, father, and younger sister, it was an understatement to say he was poor as a child. They lived in poverty, barely scraping by. However, that didn't stop his parents from doing the best they could to provide for him and his sister. They made the best of their situation, thinking it could be much worse. Still, when he was old enough, he went looking for a job that he could help support his family with. It wasn't until his 16th birthday that Jahi found something, a possible 'apprenticeship' with a band of pirates. Whatever he earned was his to do with as he pleased, and there was only one catch: he couldn't just leave after filling his pockets with gold, he had to work for a set number of years. And so began his career as a pirate, climbing up the latter within three years and earning the rank of quartermaster. He carried said rank for another four years before the captain was killed in battle, leaving him the ship, a ragtag crew, and all the gold. By that time, his mother was ailing and his father had already passed. (It was quite common for men to die before they reached fifty, after all.) His sister had run off with some strange man a year prior, so when his mother died there was nothing left for him in his hometown. Since then, he's built quite the name for himself.
